Questions about dialling in an SVT-CL

I also start as described above, tones flat with switches off or in middle position. The rotary tone controls are touchy and cover a lot of ground with a small turn so be careful. The ultra lo switch sounds good when you are right on top of the amp but gets indistinct as you walk away, you need a LOT of volume to push the ultra lo sound out in the room clearly. As said it cuts the low mids really which is where the presence is. Run flat or nearly so you'll get a good punchy audible tone that cuts through.
Haha, figured as much! I'm happy enough to pay for the download but I just wanted to be sure which one it was. Looking at the figures on the FB page on my phone, I'm almost certain mine doesn't do that 100Hz bump. I.e. flat on the EQ is essentially flat at the speaker out. I seem to have lost the screen caps I did a while back but I'll drag out my dummy loads and run another set of sweeps tomorrow night. I'm pretty sure I saw the article when you first published it but I had long forgotten the details until @JimmyM brought it up in this thread.
Since I've derailed this thread entirely, do you recall at what output level the frequency response curves were measured at? Input level is -10dBu but unless I missed it the output voltage/power the curves were measured at isn't stated.

Our Technical Editor, Tom Lees, ran those tests, and I don't know the answer, but I can see if he recalls. He is on a bit of a hiatus, though, because of life being a bit too busy, so I am not sure how quickly I can get an answer out of him.
No worries at all. Don't disturb him with this if he's taking a break. I did a bunch of measurements on mine tonight and the frequency response doesn't change much anywhere from 1W up to 300W anyway. I'll post the screen caps tomorrow but I did recall correctly that mine is essentially flat with the EQ knobs flat and the ultra switches out.
No kidding? Because I'd swear that my two SVT's, one from 69, one from 13, have the exact same sound and response curve as what Tom published, unless you take a listen to the preamp by itself.
No kidding. There is a very slight bump in that range in my results but it's less than 1dB. Now I need to figure out why mine measured differently.
I am going to try to get my hands on a VR and see how that looks. I think I will start a new thread to post up my results.I've never had the sense that SVTs had a pronounced bump in that range with everything flat but I've also never spent much time analyzing it before. I should have checked the response of just the power amp. Might try to do that tonight.
I played the SVT+Fridge stack twice.
Both times, i did the same thing: Plugged in my bass, hit a few notes, made minimal adjustments on the EQ of my bass and was fine. I simply left it where the owner had set it. If i am to provide my rack for multiple bands, i usually like it more if they bring their own heads. I'm not a big fan of people touching my amp's knobs - so i was grateful that i was able to play the SVTs and did not touch them.
One sounded absolutely great.
And the other simply gave me the best stage sound i ever had.
