Questions About Geddy Lee's Rickenbacker

So I don't get what the big secret is with splitting up tracks. If you visit that guys YouTube page, he says "Don't ask me, I won't tell you" What makes him so special?

Anyway, that sounds like it could be the Jazz at parts, but it also sounds like it could be the Rick. I'm leaning more towards Jazz with that video, but hmm...how do they sound so much alike?

Well with Geddy's grit, I always get confused with what basses he uses. Because my Rick can sound like but my Jazz can too..But i'm leaning towards the Rick more.

Well in any case I will buy a Rick someday, that being my initial reason for posting.
But as for which one he used on which tracks? It's difficult to say. Like Red Barchetta seems very clear, as does Tom Sawyer I think, but YYZ is hard to tell.

Geddy Lee has influenced more than any other bassist, however I am inclined to believe he may have misspoken when he said that at least RB was the Ric...he also has stated that Limelight is the Ric, but my ear tells me that all of MP is the Jazz w/ exception of TCE.

But, this is my opinion after all, and I could be wrong...just my ears doing the talking. Anyone else have any opinion on this?

I have a video collection of Rush and one is them in the recording studio for Moving Pictures and for Limelight he's using the jazz.

Here's a section of YYZ. Sounds more like a Jazz to me but with Geddy's tone, it's somewhat hard to tell.

And for those that were wondering, these tracks came from the Rock Band game, or one of those guitar games. Get Audacity and search for Original Master Tracks BT on google.

Yeah the more I listen to these separate tracks, the more I can tell its the Jazz on YYZ. That's weird though I always thought it was some distinct special tone. Well I guess it is...it's Geddy!

hard for me to tell, on Limelight I think it's the jazz but others say Ric so heck if I know! Just seems a little darker yet fuller sounding to me.

I have a Ric but have never gotten that close to Geddy's sound which is the reason I bought the thing 20 years ago.
