+1 for Aguilar GS. I've been using a GS212 for 5+ years and honk has not been an issue.

Fearless F112s are very nearly flat and I've found no evidence whatsoever of a mid-range "honk". Part of this may come down to the three-driver configuration. While there is a Fearless 212 (4 ohm) which shares these characteristics, the single-12, 8 ohm version can deliver so much sound pressure individually that a second one is rarely needed. I have two of them, built mirror-imaged so that when they're stacked vertically, the mids and tweeters are spatially proximal for best effect. The flexibility of using one or two is outstanding for me personally, and I can't over-recommend these bins. You can read Ed Friedland's review of them here. The builders will, of course, also seriously customize the looks of these bins for individual users.

While not 212 in a single cabinet, I do rock a 212 set up with a Markbass mini stack. I can’t say I’ve noticed any sort of imbalance in the midrange. I can dial in just about any range of tones with it.

I agree but I still dig the mids pretty much I can still cut through the mix like. However it requires a certain learning curve.

I tried out a Darkglass 2x12 yesterday and was really impressed. I got a really wide range of tones out of it, and I didn't find there to be an overly present midrange. In fact, I was really impressed by the cabinet's low end.

I have just recently acquired these 212 Subway cabs. They will not disappoint. But I recommend a pair. They seem to feed off each other. When using just one it sounds fine. But two is magic. You will need a 2 ohm capable amp. I’m waiting for a pair of the GK NEO IVs to come in at Sweetwater so I can also have an 8 ohm pair. Don’t ask me why. My evil plans are mine alone.

I think you'll find the Mesa SW 12" loaded cabs to be nicely balanced with prominent, but not honky mids. IME the Bergantino cabs (like all of them) are also very nicely balanced across the spectrum with excellent mids and a seamless transition from mids to highs (no obvious peaks or valleys).

FWIW, I like my PH212 cabs but they are a tad too mid forward for some folks. The Aguilar GS cabs mentioned earlier have noticeably less mid presence in their presentation, but IME do not get buried in a mix...it's a neat trick!

You current cabs have nothing to apologize for in that crowd and you own them...this could turn out to be an easier and cheaper decision than you expected!

An update on my search for a single gigging cabinet solution.

I've located a 4 ohm Mesa Subway 212 cabinet at a brick & mortar store so as to give it a play through.
Problem is, it's located a good 2-1/2 to 3 hours drive (one way) from the house, and going on a week-end is out, (we're booked solid on the weekends through March of next year.)

I've also contacted a G.K. dealer a couple of hours North of me and was put on their "first to notify list" when they receive either the new 8 ohm, G.K. Neo IV 210 cabinet or a 4 ohm, Neo IV 212 cabinet.

Next up if these options don't pan out, I'll order a 4 ohm RevSound RS210 (which doesn't have a return policy), and hope I like it.

And, if all the above options don't pan out, I'll continue using the 8 ohm Avatar Neo 210 cabinet I gigged with for the private party gig and the two open to the public jobs we played last weekend.
(NOTE: I always have FOH support but, Sunday's job was an outside gig and I really wished I'd brought "both" of my Avatar 210 cabinets and stacked them as a vertical 410.)
