Double Bass Questions on buying

hello,
i am new to this forum but have been playing for about 10 years. I started playing upright in middle school but have been playing bass guitar for the past 7-8ish years. I have been wanting to buy an upright bass for the past few months but don't really know much about how to go about this. any advice or tips? also i don't know much about brands or makers?
