Quick and accurate tuner for 5 string!!

I've gone through many tuners over the years. The low B can be a challenge for many tuners.

I swear by the BOSS TU-15. It doesn't hesitate on my basses' low B on up to tuning my mandolin. A great, accurate needle-type tuner.

Expensive strobe tuners (like the big ol' Peterson 490) work great as well, but I'm not sure I would call them "quick". While a strobe is more accurate (potentially), they do take more time to tune each string.

Peterson Strobostomp would be what I would recommend. Super-accurate, easy to use, and handles low notes very well. The display is nice and readable in bright sunlight as well, which is good if you play outdoor gigs.

I'm not sure how the search could not have been fruitful... maybe there were too many tuner threads? ;)

That said, I disagree with those who say "any decent tuner will do", because I have definitely had problems with the slow speed and poor accuracy of the majority of tuners I've tried when tuning the low B. Now, I realize I'm one of those people who has gear complaints no-one else has, but regardless, I have found a few tuners that snag the low B perfectly. The Strobostomp is one popular one, but the Turbo Tuner (search both here and in the "Misc." forum on the word "turbo" for links and reviews) is my personal favorite. It is cheaper than the Strobo and works at least as well- maybe even better. They have a non-stomp version out now, and a stomp version coming soon.

That turbo-tuner is the shizzle. What does one of those run$$.

I'd recommend the Korg PitchBlack. Good price, compact and tracks a low B well. I like my StroboStomp also, but it's maybe too precise. I find myself tuning closer and closer, oops a little over, now back it up, a little more, too far. You get the point. Great for setups when you want absolute precision, but maybe a little too precise for quick tuning.

any views on the fender stompbox tuner? i saw one in a shop pretty cheap here... does it quickly track and tune a low B or heck if needed a low A

I use a fender PT-100 and have a five-string that is usally tuned ADADG, and it picks the low A up every time. It might wander every once in a while for a second or two, but it never takes longer than that to pick up the A.
