Quick Question! HELP!

Hey guys!

I'll make this quick. Should be an easy answer for a change haha.

I just picked up a brand new i7 MacBook Pro and I was wondering if I would run into any problems recording with GarageBand using the following method.

Active Stingray > Mesa Big Block 750 (not connected to a cab) input> Mesa via 1/4 line out > MacBook pro input using a stereo cable with a 1/4 jack adapter.

Thanka :)

LOL, scared to break your new toys :)
For the MacBook it should be no problem.
Just set your line-in input on the MacBook very low.
Then adjust it to the point before the sound clips.

I don't now if it's a problem for the Mesa, to run it without a cab...

run your amp normal with the cab connected, just turn down your master volume to zero to be safe (power amps should not be run without a load/cab connected)

If the amp has a line out it is feed off the pre amp level only. Get a mono to stereo cable.
the line in is stereo. the line out on the amp is not.

Of course getting an inexpensive outboard interface would be better as your internal sound card is prob 16 bit and made from $5.00 worth of components.
interfaces are 24 bit and give you options like mic inputs and 1/4 inputs.

Don't set levels just under clipping.......digital is not like analog/tape recording.
set meter levels around -12 to -15 level for 16 bit (if garageband has meters that tell you that) if not you'll have to guess
