Double Bass Quick Question.....

Hey, I am my high school orchestra’s Bass section leader, and I play barefoot. Like, if I’m wearing shoes, I can’t play to the best of my abilities. Does anyone else do this?

I never have because most of the stages I have been on aren’t exactly sanitary and I’d probably end up with tetanus or some sort of foot rot. Have you tried adjusting the endpin? Maybe it needs to go up a notch higher when wearing shoes?

I know, that some players prefer to play barefoot.
For example Alberto Bocini and Catalin Rotaru.

I'm the opposite. Cannot play barefoot for longer that 5 minutes or so. Something to do with my back and knees.

I love playing barefoot, but I to am afraid of what lives in the stages I am on - and if what would happen should I sustain a puncture wound in such dumps.
