Quick questions about fretboard re-radiusing...

Alright. So I've removed all the frets from my bass neck (doing a fretless conversion) and am going to start sanding to re-radius the neck. I've ordered a radiusing block (12") and the bass is already pretty close to this so it won't be too hard. Two things - are there any tips about this process (re-radiusing) to make sure I do it right? Also... should I remove the nut or no?

Remove nut - YES
Special instructions....make sure you have a straight edge or long block set up to keep the block centered on the neck or you might as well just bolt it up as is,it will be closer.
Do cross marks on the fretboard with pencil or chalk to make sure you are leveling evenly
Clamp neck to a good bracing system to keep the fretboard flat while sanding, if you don't do this, the neck will flex while sanding and create high and low spots.
