Quick titan question

I want to protect the head once this new project gets going and we'll be going all over downtown and a few of the bigger venues outside the city proper. I was just going to get the mesa vinyl cover from their site, but I reallllly wouldn't mind putting it in a rack. Ideally I'd want a 3 space rack because I have no real intentions of adding anything else... unless a 4 space rack and the "breathing room" would be good.

I was just wondering if it could fit in a shallow rack case. I was looking at the dimensions online and think it might work, but I'm not familiar with how rack cases are measured. Is the depth given from the front of the actual rack to the back of it, or from the front cover's depth to the back cover's depth? Sorry if that doesn't make sense, I'm not quite sure how to word it.

Anyone else with a 3 space head around the same size willing to chip in? I'd like to avoid a full depth rack if at all possible... just seems like a lot of wasted space.

Or does anyone wanna talk me into using a power conditioner ;)?

My SVT 6Pro is a 2 space amp, so I went with a 2 space rack. It's a long amp, front to back, and wouldn't fit in a standard SKB case. I went with a RoadRunner, much deeper. I don't know how they measure the rack cases, but when I remove the rear cover off my case, the amp actually sticks out the back a couple of inches. Weird, but it works. You might bring a tape measure and buy the case in person, to be sure. I came home with the SKB, only to be disappointed, but the RoadRunner is alot nicer, just took 2 trips to GC.

I guess I'll have to try that. I'll wait until I move out to my apartment which is only 4 minutes away from GC instead of the 20 minute/25 mile commute it is now with gas like it is, haha.

Any complaints on your part with the head sticking out the back of the cab? Or is just purely aesthetic?

The Titan runs hot and needs good air space around it when you rack it. Remember that and you'll be OK.

I've got mine in the Mesa head enclosure which gives about 1.5 - 2 inches around the side vents, about 3" of air space above it and does not obstruct the rear panel, where the fan is located, in any way.

Does the mesa enclosure protect the front knobs? I didn't get it with that initially because it added a lot of weight... But maybe I need to reevaluate?

The Mesa enclosure does not protect the front knobs, as in you have a cover over them, but the knobs no longer are the leading edge of the amp.

Basically, the Mesa enclosure makes the amp look like a standard amp head (think Marshall JCM guitar amp head and you'll have the picture).

I just popped mine into a nice SKB Roto 4-space that will protect it perfectly and make it easier to carry (side handles) without adding a bunch of weight. I see no reason to do anything else.

I bought one of those for my mesa bass 400 right before I sold it. It looks solid... probably a good mate for the titan. I'll probably give it a go. Now I just gotta figure out where to get those rack space covers for the fourth space...

Hey Visrale,

I'm using mine in a 5 space Anvil case. It's shallow though. I use the other two spaces for a tuner and a rack conditioner. But the nice thing about the Titan is that I Believe you can use the shallower rack cases to mount it in. This makes it "way" easier to carry because it's less awkward to carry. Ignore all that silly Aguilar stuff in there...:D

You could always get a rack bag like the DB750 is in. I actually like that quite a bit. If it fits the DB750, it'll fit the Titan.

Damnit I got your post mixed up with another one and got a shallow SKB roto 4 rack. WAYY too shallow. So I gotta go return it tomorrow.

I'm just leaving the 4th rack space empty for ventilation... got a nice vent rack space.

Ok, I got it all figured out. I went ahead and got the SKB with the wheels and retractable handle. I was reluctant at first, but once he showed it to me and I saw that everthing is extremely low profile and barely different at all from the normal one, I was down for it. Yet another easy to move thing in my setup!

For now it's just a vent over the 4th panel, but I am considering a compressor...
