quiet RO sander?

Yo!
I use a couple of PC RO sanders ...these:

THIS THING IS NOISY! I mean, godzilla loud! and not really as aggressive as I would like. Do any of you have a recommendation for an aggressive RO sander that isn't too loud? Sheet or disc, doesn't matter!

I love my Dewalt. It's still loud, but not as bad as the crappy one from Harbor Freight. This and my drill press were the two best purchases I could have ever made......I don't know how I built my first bass without them.

I love the festool I use, and it's totally dust free if you hook it up to a shop vac!

The only downside is that they're more expensive than alot of people think they should be worth, but they are worth every penny

Ryobi Corner cat, plenty agressive, yet very quiet, and super smooth running. I ditched my DeWalt and my PC for all Ryobi sanders. The 5" disc is a touch louder, but also much more agressive. Both have dust collection.

Metabo of Germany makes a neat little three inch right-angle random orbit disc sander that is real quiet and smooth as silk. You can put a soft intermediate disc on it and sand contours! The 3" disc size is great for bass bodies, but it's pricey; about $220 U.S.

Made in Germany, and they make the best tools I've ever used (between porter cable, dewalt, and some other random hand power tools). $260, a little pricey but are excellent for body, neck, fretboard, and even polishing (I think it comes with the polishing attachment...)

Festool are very good tools, their hoovers and routers are very good. a buddy of my dad's has a fantastic workshop with the odd Festool knocking about and they are very good.

I use an air DA, It has a dial on the side that regulates the air. It can be quite and mild on lower settings and can be very loud and aggressive at higher ones. I also use an air powered “long board” too. I prefer air powered tools over electric, especially sanders.

I have a compressor, but most decent air sanders require over 10CFM and my compressor is only capable of 8CFM at 90psi. I'm thinking that even lower priced air sanders would be better than an electric one. The only decent electric one I've tried is the bosch 1250DEVS. It's a dual mode expensive SOB.

Yeah you've got to have a good compressor, The sander regulated down might actually work ok with yours for shorter time periods. I do a lot of auto body stuff too so I use all those tools dual purpose.
