I suppose it's easy to think this but if I recall, Quilter have implied that this is the adapted pre section from the BB802 with one less band of EQ but the all important vintage switch/cab sim added. After all the BB800 was the (adapted and uprated) power section of the QSC K series powered cab in an adapted guitar Block chassis.
I don't think Quilter are the kind of company to just superficially tweak a guitar product to meet a market.
I suppose, but I think most companies tweak products to open up new markets. Nothing wrong with that.
When you think about amps back in the day, you often see the term "AP" - meaning All Purpose. If you take the The difference between a guitar amp and a bass amp is often just a few resistors values to change eq points and frequency response thats suited to that particular instrument.
The Fender Studio bass and the Super Twin (guitar amp) are nearly identical amps - except some eq points and an added gain stage in the guitar amp. These two amps were not developed totally separately and independently from each other. A few different resistor values, a different speaker enclosure, and some marketing in the name of the product, and you are selling to two different markets.
You can take a tube screamer (guitar pedal), literally change one resistor value that allows more bass signal to pass thru and you have a "Bass Tube Screamer."
take a look at the 45 Series product line.
Fist came the micro block 45 - there is the development of the 45w power section in a pedal form.
Second came the Interblock 45 - there is the development of the guitar product with the already existing 45 power section, but now with a 4 band eq, cab sim, the switches in the same places, the line out, etc...
Third came the Interbass 45 - same 45w power section, same lay out as the already existing product.
I was in no way trying put down Quilter, any of their products, or the way they do business. Or I was not trying to say that the Interbass is just a guitar product that they slapped the word bass on.
I think the InterBass is a useful and well thought out product, specifically designed to meet the needs of a certain segment of the bass playing market - but that doesn't mean that it wasn't adapted from a guitar product that he company already had. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
