R.I.P. Jerry Jones

They were definitely hollow, with nicer finishes than original Danos. The hardware was good quality. It felt like a big step up from my ‘63 Silvertone. But I never worked on the JJ I owned - had it for a bit and sold it. Kinda wish I hadn’t.

JJ built them like the original Danelectros, but better: wood (poplar?) frame, with Masonite (hardboard) top and back. JJ necks were maple (or at least mine is).

Modern Danelectros have plywood frames instead of solid wood. That's not a horrible thing in itself (though some disagree)-- except that the two Chinese Danelectros I have are made of horrible plywood, so they don't hold the bridge screws securely. I had re-drill and dowel the bridge screw holes on one, and I put a Jeff Senn bridge on the other.
