R.I.P music

A. One of the worst pieces of pop music ever, or
B. A parodic stab at the music industry, carefully engineered by someone completely brilliant to be explosively viral.

Sometimes I like to think that some of the pop musicians today are actually subversive geniuses. They put on a facade as an "Artist", and pretend to think they are making good music, however really they are laughing their heads off at the rest of the world and rolling in money. Of course, i'm sure there are a good percentage of them who are just completely delusional and actually think they are any good, in which case its their agents who are rolling in the cash laughing.

My thoughts EXACTLY!! There are some artists who I'm completely convinced are actually geniuses. Lady Gaga being one, for sure. Then there are artists like Rebecca Black and Justin Beiber who just got caught by a REALLY strong gust of someone else's genius, intentional or accidental, and just decided to ride it out. Honestly, none of these artists are truly without talent. I've seen worse in the finals of American Idol. After looking at a snippet of an interview of the Arc Music Factory's men in charge I just didn't get the genius vibe at all (possibly part of their master plan to eventually enslave all of humanity).

Anyway, I'm in the party that believes that this song succeeded purely because it is catchy and hilariously inane, not because it's actually good music. I've DEFINITELY heard worse, lol. And you've gotta admit, the song is fun in a "herp, derp" kinda way :p :D.

Its pretty sad when I longingly look on the days of Limp Bizkit and Korn and think, those were the days...
I'm not a fan of either but at least they had an edge, and weren't just singing about how lonely they are and how much they miss their girlfriends like these p****** now-a-days.

AND they got buttloads of airplay.

The remarkable thing about Fred Durst is that he managed to be whiny while acting like a macho douchebag at the same time.

She's 13..:hiding:

I'd hit it, but never call her back.

Of course he wouldn't call her back. His one phone call would be for the lawyer. :p

Eh, the music is insipid pop not that dissimilar from the insipid pop studios have been churning out for the past 60 years or more. This is cheap, disposable music no one will remember 5 years for now.

The good stuff is almost always buried under a mountain of crud. 90% of anything is crap.

I liked her early stuff more.
