Rack ears for GK micros?

OK. Couldn't find it in a search and got no answers in the GK thread. GK has not answered my email yet (it's only been 48 hrs) and RMC audio hasn't "called me right back with an answer" since yesterday :-(

It seems ears for the MB500/MB800 are "in stock" only when the phase of the moon coincides with the menstrual period of the smallest sow in the field, the temperature dips to zero and house Republicans and Dems have a mutual footrub lovefest, but ears ARE available for the Fusion 500. THE QUESTION IS: is the only difference between ears for the Fusion 500 and those for the MB 500/800 the finish/color? I don't have a Fusion 500 to check but it's chassis seems to be exactly the same as the others and I can live with the color mismatch......anyone know fer sure??????

I swear they are the same, but when that much money is involved for a couple pieces of aluminum, you want to be sure. I bet if you call GK directly and talk to the parts lady, you will get an answer.

I don't know the answer to your question, but if you don't want to wait for the next frozen moon phase/bipartisan plantar lovefest, consider finding someone to make you a set or buy a sheet of metal if you're into DIY. When I bought my MB500 a couple years ago, GK wanted something like $40 for ears, which I thought was ridiculous. My guitar tech made me a pair for $10. He later made a matching rack tray for my wireless unit for another $15.

UPDATE-spoke with GK parts. 1)The Fusion 500 ears WILL fit both the MB500 and 800 just diff color. 2)They DO have ears for the 800 in stock, but have so few pairs they left the website marked "out of stock".

I wouldn't mind getting a set of ears, but I have been using a $18 raxxas 1U shelf, mainly because I mount a tuner or a line6 G30 receiver next to the MB500, and it gives me lots of places to zip tie cables behind the amp (the shelf has lots of slits in it). It adds some 7 pounds to the amp rack though because the shelf is made of nice thick steel. The shelf weighs more than the GK500. With the shelf, I can do a little more in less space.
