Rackmount tuner - where'd the Korgs go?

I have a Fender PT-100 pedal that I was using w/my guitar setup (yeah, I play guitar too). It seems to be working pretty well with bass so I'm planning on putting on my pedalboard that I just ordered yesterday. The pedal has two outs; output 2 mutes when tuning, so that takes care of "tuning noise." I'll keep my eye on the FS forum for good deals on used Korgs. ;)

I love my Korg rack mount tuner.

I can take tuner out line on my DI right to the tuner if I choose to and do not find this awkward at all.

Didn't know that they stoped making it, that is to bad.

That is FRIGGING BRILLIANT!!!!!! I've seen those and thought they were neat for what they were but didn't seem especially useful, except that when I grab a tuner when I'm changing strings upstairs I always seem to leave a cable downstairs, so I thought this might be cool there, but using this thing in the tuner out (on an amp that has a front mounted tuner out (like my GBE750 and the GBE600 before it) would be pretty great and MUCH cheaper than a rackmount or pedal tuner!

i hadn't realized rack tuners were fading away, but it makes sense, as the only practical reason for one i can think of is for bass players with rackmount heads and no pedals at all. (for that reason, they never made sense to me for guitar players, who typically use pedals).

as wacky pedals get more popular and more bass players run pedalboards, the need to burn an entire rack space for something that should be no bigger than a pedal effect begins to fade.

I recently decided to rack my Shuttle 6.0. Being that I have a big cab (Avatar B212) it's not like I can do the "Cab in one hand, amp in gig bag" thing anyway, so a lightweight Gator case was how I went. So, putting the tuner in the rack just seemed like the way to go for me. I have a small pedalboard so saving space there is important.

Well, you know the old adage; "Something is only worth what somebody will pay for it." Nobody seems to want rack tuners these days...hence them all being discontinued like THAT (snaps fingers for emphasis). Additionally, if you either really need the money or want the gear gone, you'll take less money then you were originally were asking for just to make the sale. Or you hold on to it. I'm sitting on an all-aluminum Home Theater PC case that I paid $260 for. It's pretty swanky, actually. Nobody wanted to take it even at $160 SHIPPED (it's not that light)...so I'm holding on to it.

I personally love rackmount tuners. It's handy when so many of the songs in my genre have breakdowns that involve playing an open string. All I have to do is turn around and do a quick check! I've been using one for a while now on my rig, but my only problem now is I just sold my behringer rackmount tuner (for its lack of responding to my tuning in C) to get a korg and much to my dismay (thanks to this thread) I've discovered they are discontinued?!?! Lame! Well, if anyone would like to sell their DTR-1000 or DTR-2000 please let me know. I am rather desperate as my band is heading out on tour in a couple months and I no longer have a rackmount tuner and a gaping hole in my rack.... lol.

My only qualm is that my RBI has a tuner out but doesn't have a tuner mute, but I'm sure I could find somebody to mod it for me :) It was great when I had my Carvin w/ tuner out and mute switch.

Doesn't it have a mute button though? My DTR-2 did. Seems just as easy, foot vs. finger, especially if you're having to look at it anyway. But, I suppose if you're using a rather long cord or wireless and had the footswitch close by that you could see good enough from a distance on stage.
