Radial Tonebone Bassbone

hi guys, i have a rather complex dilemma. i want to make my pedal board a lot more user friendly and simpler to use. the other day i managed to get my hands on a radial tonebone bassbone. and i was really happy with its sound and i wanna incorporate it into my board. now i would like some opinions as to what the best way to do this would be.

at the moment, my board is set out like this:
guitar goes into: EHX black finger compressor
Fender tuner
EHX Big Muff
Boss super Octave
Volume/Expression pedal
Ibanez Delay
Beringher EQ/DI

however, ive been thinking of way to cut out the berigher EQ/DI and replacing it with the tonebone, which serves as a DI as well. and i want to run the Big Muff thru the Bassbones effects loop thereby cutting it out of my signal chain and activating it with the Bassbones boost function.

so, with all that said, this is gonna be my signal path:
bass --->ehx black finger--> boss octave---> Delay--->Bassbone with big muff in its effects loop and the tuner into the Bassbones tuner out---> and then output to amp

please guys help me out here.'

Mmm, yeah - I always put delay after OD/distortion, but synth/octave stuff goes before OD, at least in my book. The great thing about the Tonebone is that you can use two different basses in a rig, with wildly varying output - supremely valuable to me, with a Fender P and a Stingray 5.

The other thing to consider is that if you go direct to the board, you may want to put the Tonebone last if you're using its DI. If you have a separate DI, or if the soundman does, this is not such a problem, but Radial has such good sounding DI's I'd use it over almost anything else, except maybe a JDI or something!

yes velvetphil, i am definately going to use the tonebones DI, so its going last in the chain.

how can i put the delay after distortion if im using hte tonebones effects loop to run the muff?

i also thought of another way to link it all up, and that is to have all effects except the black finger in the effects loop. thus running it black finger--> tonebone and then in effects loop distortion, delay and octave. and then selecting the desired effect before a song starts and bringing it in and out witht he tonebones boost function. would that work?

My only suggestion is to run all of your effects through the Bone’s effect loop. (Except for the tuner which goes through the “Tuner Out”.)
My rationale is that in case something goes horribly wrong with my effect loop, the effect bypass is my ‘panic button’. The first time I used my BassBone was a big gig and this feature saved my bacon!

but that means i still need to stomp on my pedals individually to activate/de-activate them. i want to be able to use the tonebone as a remote activation for them. i run my compressor on all the time so thats why i put that first in my line. dont like the compressor on the amp much. its a good idea to have the boost as a panic button, but my application wont work like that.

damn, so many options, and yet so many limitations as well

This and read the manual. The bass bone is not an effects loop switcher.

There is, but a special stereo cable is required.

I have my ToneBone set up where everything is run through the effects loop. Main reason is that way, I can run all the effects through the house as well as bypass everything when I need. It works wonderfully in this regard.

don't know how you guys deal with effects loops. never heard a single one i liked. i so wanted to like the one on the vt deluxe but it sounds like crap. the only flaw to a great pedal. used to have an ebs microbass ii...effects sounded like crap in the loop, too. every amp i've tried, every pedal i've tried...except one...the digitech loop/gate pedal was halfway decent, believe it or not. too bad i sold it.

HOW COME NOBODY CAN MAKE A DECENT EFFECTS LOOP???

I bought a single effects loop box (with LED light) so I can go straight to the amp with a true bypass(from my Korg effects and MXR M-80). I bought it from Loop Masters. It was handmade to order and it works great. About $50 and a week waiting time.

Bob Gollihur has those cables; I think it was something like $12 or so. Nothing major really. When I'm not using the cable (or effects), I put a 1/4" headphone adaptor in it so I can run the boost switch as a mute. Works great that way too.
