Something like the Quartermaster 4 seems the most appropriate. I'd have the three preamps in three of the loops, set to Flip-Flop, and the fourth loop with an OD, set to standard operation. This'd allow me to quickly switch between pre's, and have an OD/boost/other available for any of them. Anybody got a schematic?
I have a prototype Vitoos 5 channel programmable, but the buffers are not great. It would probably be fine if it only had three loops. The other two are unusable (at least in the Vitoos), because there's no way to set the loops to be independent, like a 'stomp' mode.
The Morley, and others look like they're more of an ABY box situation; I'd need something on the other side to re-combine the signal, though I suppose a passive mixer would do that.
The MIDI route is likely the end game, though. (Is there ever really an end?) Mostly because I have the gear, or will when the ML10X is back in stock. I have used the DPC5 as a 'dumb' looper in the past, controlling it with an MC6, to turn loops on and off. Advantage there is, in Pedal mode on the DPC, I have immediate control over individual loops, plus the ability to include them in presets in the MC6. The ML10X has more loops, and reorderability(?), but no direct access to the loops; MIDI only.
I also built a Klein Bottle a few months ago, and added MIDI switching to it, using a QT Py RP2040 controller. It works great, but would be underutilized for this, what with all the cross-blending available. Right now it doesn't physically fit on the board. I made a few errors building my current board (grossly overengineered, not enough space under the riser, lid not tall enough for a few pedals), so the Klein is sidelined for now. I'm hoping over the winter to build a new board. A little wider, deeper and taller, with better use of the under-riser space. Really I ust want a Schmidt Array, but that's a lot of coin.
