Double Bass raezer rattle

I've an original raezer bass 12 cabinet that has develped a mystery rattle by the left front vent. it's not the vent itself. I've taken things apart, tightened things up and reassembled it, but it still rattles. it's not the driver, but it's driving me nuts.

Any thoughts?

Same problem with my Hartke Pro 4200 cab. Drives me nuts! Like yourself, carefully took it apart. I checked all the speakers to make sure none were blown (just to be sure) and the horn in the middle. Can't figure out what the h3ll it is!

I'd also like to hear any ideas anyone might have.

I caulked my GK MB-150 with silicone bathroom caulk at the suggestion of people here on TBDB. Worked like a charm.

Is the chalk to mark whats ratlling or to make it stop rattling?

That mystery rattle may be a voice coil distorted by heat that's rubbing in the gap. Pushing the coil may not be enough to detect that. Pull the speaker out of the cab and try driving it at moderate volumes.

Caulk (not chalk!) works on the MB-150 because it's a metal cabinet that needs damping in the metal-to-metal joints.
