Wrong Robot said:I don't understand how someone could call themselves a bass player and not appreciate(or even acknowledge) the massive grooves that rap music is founded upon.
Vorago said:I don't think Eminem has been mentioned here. What do you guys think of him?
I think he is a very tallented MC and lyricwriter, but imo the direction he is going is sometimes too "adolecent"...
Wrong Robot said:I think he's pretty overrated. He is definitely talented, and he not only writes poignant lyrics but he knows not to take himself too seriously and simultaneously raps about absurdly ridiculous things. For that, I can respect him. But, I dislike the way people typically treat him as some sort of virtuoso rap god.
Personally, my favorite rapper is Pep Love from Hieroglyphics. I've been hip to this guy for many years, but only just recently I actually started LISTENING to him, and I realized... "holy ****ing **** this guy is amazing", his flow mesmerizes me.

Most of today's rap is crappy....just absolutely crappy, autotuned dreadlocked tattooed grilled nonsense. Once in a while I'll catch a song that will draw my attention. Once in a while
I like the Old School stuff. Public Enemy (who play with a proper band, with a seriously good bassist by the name of Bryan Hardgroove), Run DMC, NWA, The Beastie Boys and a little bit of Eminem now and then isn't too bad.
