RARE Squier II Precision neck/headstock!!!

Could someone please help me identify what model this neck was originally on from the factory? Indicators suggest that it was assembled in the (not Samick) plant in '89, but I've heard of necks that were made in Japan actually being used for these instruments during that period as well...

I'm a designer/builder/modder, and I'm gonna go on record as qualifying this as AUTHENTIC and ORIGINAL~ (i.e., i don't believe that someone put a Squier II waterside on a cheap neck) the tuners are certainly Japanese, as is the *bullet* truss adjustment head...

I seriously doubt it came from the factory like this, unless it was another example of what happens on one of those FujiGen Fun Fridays I've heard about.

~ It's sooooo slick and the juxtaposition of the label and string tree are so different… I can't help but but be inclined to believe that such is the case with this particular headstock! I have heard of other bastard shapes making it off of the line...

There’s a handful of non standard Fender head stocks. There’s a pointy one from one of the 80s MIJ. There’s the Coronado and the other one. There was one two by two I think. I’ve never seen this one.

The 80's Squier II that I owned looked like a normal Fender headstock, fantastic neck on that one... I miss it.

Seems like it was either reshaped, or someone went through the trouble of removing an SX logo and installing a Korean Squier logo.

I bought a Squier II contemporary strat this weekend that has the same decal as this aside from the model name. E9 serial as well. It's a regular Fender headstock.

This one has been reshaped.

Just a heads up...that neck/headstock looks identical to a "P bass" neck I bought from GuitarFetish.com a few years ago. I don't think they still have it on their site, but it was like $89

And what would be the point of a custom Squier II waterslide? They're not valuable instruments at all. If you look at the "beak" of the SX neck vs the Squier you'll notice they're not really the same.
