I've had vinyl cabs. Can't beat the look. Until you gig 'em for a year. Then they just look beat.
Would love the luxury of a vinyl or finished wood cab for a home practice rig, but since I somehow still am gigging I'll keep owning the fur. A once per year touch up using an old hair trimmer and a tape roller and they look good as new.
PROTIP: an old Wahl trimmer (you don't want a new one as the fiber destroys the edge) is key to keeping a fur cabinet looking new.

I haven't seen it for a while, but there used to be a rattle can of dye for restoring automotive carpet. Not sure how well it would work for a color change, but it did pretty good on making faded carpet look newer. Maybe check Eastwood or a local auto upholstery shop and test on the bottom or back? Or RIT dye in a spray bottle. Or a box of Sharpies and a lot of time

For me, it's synonymous with cheap vocal PA's.
If you like touring with a plague blanket in the back of the van, go for it, because it soaks up oil spills, excrement (don't ask), animal fur, beer, pasties, fizzy drinks, and chocolate.
It also smoulders nicely, when exposed to lit cigarettes, which is arguably just as well, because it's the only way to clean off all of the above mentioned detritus, provided you don't mind the smell of burnt hair - just make sure it isn't still quietly smouldering away when you load it back in the van, with all your other equipment.
