Rat Tail or something else?

While there are some cool options out there, in my opinion the Rat Tail is the be all end all version of a RAT for bass.

+1000. There is not really any low end loss to speak of. And I dial my rat kings tone in pretty aggressively and I still get great bottom end. I think anyway. I used to own a ProCo Rat and while it sounded great, I took it back a week after I got due to the fact that it sucked too much out of my signal. I was never a huge fan of rat dist but since I got my rat king, I have to say Im a fan of that particular rat by Ryan. I have thought about selling it more than a few times but I just cant seem to bring myself to do so. Its just too damn full of raunchy goodness that not many other pedals out there right now can come close too. Very unique.

IMHO, the only thing better than a Rat Tail is the Rat King (talking about the RAT sound on bass of course, not for all pedals in the world in general).

Id does great low gain as well. If you want to do low and high gain, I would recommend a Rat King or a RT with the second distortion option.

Love the sound of the rat tail on bass. That being said I don't own one, I have a Swollen Pickle, which I picked up because of Brian Cook of Russian Circles. Brian Cook also uses the rat tail, which he ran through a Big Bottom for low end. Side note he didn't run the Pickle through the Big Bottom.

Thinking of picking one of these things up as well! I definitely want one of the mods and am having a hard time deciding. My band definitely does some ambient stuff, so the feedback loop sounds like a good idea. But can anyone explain the 2nd distortion thing?
