i haven't had this good a laugh in weeks!

my comments are i like the pic a lot, for various reasons -- namely, the cool car and the worn-down garage backdrop. i love old things, so there's a bias.

what i don't like are your clothes, the bone player smiling, and the typeface for the band.

i think ya need a little more attitude in there, even if you are a rockabilly orchestra of sorts. the skinny ties scream new wave to me, and i also don't like having everyone posing with the instruments. i'm also anti-smile, no matter the genre. seriousness is sexier.

i think the sepia tone gives it a nice moody quality, and i'd be more inclined to "believe it" if you guys were more dressed like the dude in the hat [who reminds me of the scarecrow in the wizard of oz]. feels more authentic.

but hey, it's a band pic, and ya gotta have something at some point.

tell me what ya think of our band shot; i don't know how to paste pics in:

Where the hell is Rick btw??!?

He's off sulking because, well his daughter took the photo, and he just wanted to show it off. And now all you guys have gone an done offended the man by insulting his daughter's photography.

Seriously though, the man asked how we liked it. He didn't ask us to redo it (the gangster photo was fair game though :) For all we know, the photo was the result of weeks of violent, painful and agonizing arguments about direction and so forth.

Really? I didn't intend to offend him or anyone else. I just thought that I might be able to help out by posting an opinion along with a photo that showed the result of that opinion.

I really hope I haven't offended anyone.

Secret donkey's version is really good, it was just a tad gloomy, brightened up it looks nice.

FWIW, I made no attempt to change the image itself... though I resaved it with a fairly high amount of JPEG compression, which is responsible for any variation in the actual image...

On another note, Rick may not agree with *any* of the suggestions that have been posted, but I'd be surprised if he's offended by any of them, either...

:)

Hi, I'm back. You all crack me up. No offense taken at all. My daughter didn't take the pic. she's only eight. Thanks for all the constructive critisism. I'm going to pass this thread along to the band to see what they have to say about it. I've been gone for awhile because of the hurricane. Lost power for about 16 hrs and the Gov. closed because the Metro system shut down. A nice little vacation for me. :D

Rick,

I beat you guys jam but that pic makes you guys look a little unhip to tell you the truth. I don't think I would be motivated by that pic to come see you guys. Marketing is half the battle these days, with horns and keys you must be somewhat bluesy. I just picture great Blues bands in dirty smoky bars, maybe some actual gig photos would add more excitement. I am under 30 I am not sure what your target audiance is but I think the younger generation couldn't relate to that, that's if you really want them to. Maybe take pics of each guy playing and place them individually on a flyer, I need to see booze and cigerette smoke, and that sax player playing that sax instead of on his lap, but that's just me good luck Rick!
