I liked the original, too, but now it actually sounds good! That single coil pickup was weak, and I was just tired of the butterscotch look.

This one is tinted with a concoction of craft tints and clearcoated with Deft.

This one is tinted with Stew-Mac/Trans Tint Red and clearcoated with Behlens which I like better than the Deft.

Just finished this refin for a friend. It started as a natural finish Squier VM Jazz. The color is Duplicolor Perfect Match (can't remember the exact color), followed by Minwax clear lacquer, all from a rattle can. I think it came out pretty great.

It's Duplicolor Perfect Match "Hampstead Green." Looks much better on the bass then on the can cap!

A quick question to the spray-paint guru's. Will I have any bonding issues with the following cans?:

Rustolium primer
Montana Gold Acrylic
Minwax PolyCrylic Clearcoat (pretty sure this is waterbased)

I've heard about issues when mixing finishing materials and wanted to double check before I spray anything. I've also heard that the polycrylic can take a while to harden, and its best to wait 3-5 hours between coats

I gave up on Polycrylic after trying to buff it out. Just doesn't get as shiny as the Duplicolor lacquer. Plus, the witness lines got really annoying.

I was going to do my last project in that color but ended up taking a cheaper way out by going with auto paint from the local auto parts store. Couldn't find a purple I liked so I went with a color close to the original. After seeing how nice that turned out I wish I would have gone with the ReRanch!

Well I'm glad you posted it too. I'm restoring an Ibanez RB850 and the original finish was purple. I've been looking at the Reranch purple but wasn't sure. I'm for sure using it now.

The finish isn't perfect, I painted it a few hours before a gig, so I didn't get a chance to smooth it out....but I love the colour, I plan to get a Warmoth maple body, then paint it the same colour, and redo the pickup covers.
