Re-amping bass

Hi,
I'm gonna play with re-amping some DI'd bass tracks through my amp, and blending the two tracks. What are the main things to consider as far as phase issues? I understand you have to be careful that they're not out of phase due to the delay in the mic'd amp signal? Is it just a matter of getting in close on the wavesforms and maiking sure they line up?

If you have the option, looking at the wave forms is an easy way to check phase. However, music is about listening not seeing. If it sounds good leave it alone. If you want to check by listening instead of shifting things around digitally, it's pretty simple. Just have one channel of the DI signal and one channel of the mic'd signal. Playback your recording of just the DI track. With that at a reasonable level, pull up the fader of the mic'd track. If the volume goes down, the signals are out of phase with each other. Sometimes just flipping the phase is enough to fix this. other wise, try moving the mic closer or farther away from the cab, and you'll be able to find the sweet spot.
