When I click on a thread title that I've not read before, it takes me to what I assume is the first new post since I last logged in, rather than just to the first post. This is somewhat inconvenient, as I have to backtrack to read the original post and subsequent threads.

I understand clicking on the blue dot next to the thread title should take me to the first unread post, but methinks clicking on the thread title should always take you to the beginning of the thread.

No - I mean I have never read the thread at all before, and suddenly I'm taken to the first post made since I last logged in. It's like being dropped into the middle of a conversation in which I have no idea what's going on.

I do that fairly rarely, so I haven't noticed the behaviour. If I do read a new thread, it's usually because I've found it via a search (google or TB) and thus I'd expect to go exactly where the search says ... usually not the first post in the thread. Also, I don't usually log out.

Is it definitely the first post since you last logged in ... or is it perhaps first post since you marked the entire forum (or all of TB) read ? As an experiment, I just clicked on a thread I never read before, and it took me to a post from April 17th. Which I'm fairly sure is the date time I last marked all of TB as read (just after the conversion).

Sorry I can't help any more, I'll try and watch out for that behaviour and figure out what happens for me.

No update on this? I can't believe no one else has posted with the same issue as the OP.

It used to be that you clicked on the icon just to the left of the thread title to be taken to the first unread post in that thread, or the thread title itself to be taken to the beginning of the thread. Now clicking on either takes you to the first post since your last log-in. I just clicked on the title of a thread I've never read before and it took me to page 3 of the thread. In order to get to the beginning of the thread I had to click on the "page 1" link. This can't possibly be the 'new' way to get to the beginning of a thread.

It takes me to the first unread post.
I have the Talkbass Retro option set, to my old eyes it is easier to read, if that makes any difference - IDK.
I much prefer the new TB, the old one had a few quirks that really annoyed me whereas the new one is slick and smooth.

It does it on threads with new posts since my last log-in (or on a forum page reload). Threads titled in BOLD, in other words.

Example: Basses forum. Thread: "The Official Fender Precision Bass Club (Part 8)"

There have been new posts in that thread since my last log-in, so the thread title is in BOLD. When I hover the mouse cursor over the little icon next to the thread title OR the thread title itself, it shows the URL/address. For both of them, it's the following:

http://www.talkbass.com/threads/the-official-fender-precision-bass-club-part-8.1023149/unread

Before the forum software upgrade, the "/unread" at the end of the URL wouldn't have been there when you hovered over the name of the thread title, only for the icon to the left of the thread title.

This seems like some sort of glitch to me. If I want to read the first post in that thread I have to let it take me to page 46 of that thread, and then click on the "page 1" link to get back to the beginning. That doesn't make sense.
