Found this under the heading Re: seeking standup bass:
"I see ads up that say " bassplayer wanted. Must play stand up".
I would just like to ask why. Do these people even know tonaly what the difference between a stand up and bass guitar are.
First off the stand up is a slow un responsive cumbersome instrument.
In all but a few genres it has no place. There is a reason the bass guitar was invented. A reason the bass guitar took over in all but a few places. The bass guitar is a better instrument.
So I say to these ads unless you play bluegrass or rockabilly or something else that a stand up bass make sense in forget it.
You don't see bassist posting ads that say bandmates wanted must churn your own butter and raise your own barns."
And later on, this post:
"Bassist looking for bandmates
-Must churn your own butter and raise your own barns."
