I have a set of Spirocore Solos I tuned to orchestra, and I really liked them on my bass. I’m about to write up a report on low tension strings on a thread I started a few weeks ago, in case it’s helpful to future shoppers; so, I won’t repeat it all here. The bottom line on the Spiro solos is that my bass loves lower tension than the mittel E&A and Flex Deluxe D&G that I had on for a good while before; but I wanted a little more tension for my hands, and settled on Perpetuals. For lowest tension with a big sound, Spirocore Solos at orchestra won the contest. Some others report them to be dark on their basses, and they liked the higher tension Spirocores; but on my late 1800 carved Saxon, they sounded really great - same ballpark as the Perpetuals, and much more open and resonant than the mittels, which sounded a little choked. Weichs were, unsurprisingly, in between. I’m probably going to list the solos for sale pretty soon, because my festival ‘54 Kay lives with the Weich E and Zyex A-G, but I liked the solos enough I almost switched those.
