Realistic larg(ish) rig for gigging?

Ok, so i play in a two piece bass and drums band - Link Removed.
For aaaaaages i've been umming and rrrring over how to fill out my sound.
I've looked at other 2 pieces like big biz and lightninng bolt, dfa 1979 and om, akk of these bands have ace sounds but the rigs are just too big for me to carry round.
So, i think i'm gonna do this:

SansAmp RBI with a Crown xls 602 run in stereo through an ampeg svt he 410 and an ampeg svt 610 hlf.

What i'm aiming for is a BIG and LOUD rig that covers both clarity and body, you know? So it just fills the rooms we play in.
My current set up is loud but it doesn't FEEL loud or BIG.

Will this work?????!

Of course you did! Sorry, it's late over here and i'm slow at the best of times.
There i'm using an old ampeg b2 combo that has a 15" speaker and that's connected to an ampeg svt 410 he cab.
It sounds ok but im noticing more and more that the 410 doesn't sound as good as it could because the combo only puts out 350 watts.
Gutted!

Forgive me for being clueless, i'm rubbish with technical stuff.
Do you mean buy another amp and run that with 2 cabs - one 15" and one 410?

if you have a stereo power amp you could run your lows to one side of it and then into a 1x15 or a 2x12. then run the highs through the other side and into a 4x10. you would need a cross over, or a preamp with a bi-amp/cross over outs.

peavey max preamp does the bi-amp thing great.

I already have the sansamp rbi which doesn't have a cross over, if i did get a crossover then would it be worth still getting the svt 610 hlf to run the lows through? Then put all the highs through the 410 he?

The problem IMHO is the head not the cabs. 350 watts (if it is not tubes) is a bar rig - small. If both your cabs are a 8 ohm you want an amp pushing 500 watts into 4 ohms. The gear you mentioned looks like a setup. Harmony-central is good for some extra reviews. Best of luck!

You need headroom, my friend. All it takes is more speakers. Get yourself any decent 4x10 rig, and I predict you will be happy.

I'm a bit confused, why a 410he, (8 ohms), and 610hlf, (4 ohms)? Seems a bit of a mismatch between the 2 cabs. And then, the RBI, good preamp, so you want a poweramp. But right now, the only amp you have is the 1 x 15 combo?

I have the combo and an exstention cab to play through at the moment but i have bought a sansamp rbi and a crown power amp which mean i could run it in stereo - one outp[ut to the 8 ohm, one to the 4 ohm and then match the volumes manually.

I wouldn't be using the combo at all.

yours is a common problem. Every bass player in these types of outfits wants to sound BIGGER!

The first question to ask yourself is, do you really know what your current rig sounds like in a room? Sounds silly right? But take a minute...

Realize that your live rig sounds completely different standing 10ft away from it (you) than it does standing 50ft away from it (audience), and it will sound different in every room.

Your amplifier's power output is almost more important than its EQ section in my opinion. If you're considering getting new gear (which I recommend based on your listed setup) about the biggest sounding rig you can get on the relatively cheap side, would be two Avatar Neo B212's ($369), a sansamp BDDI (yeah its a pedal preamp, but essentially the same unit as the true rackmount RBI less a mid control) and a decent power amplifier. I always recommend the Carvin DCM1000. Ive toured with these for years and never had one malfunction. Plus theyre like $325 for 1100 watts!!.

four 12" speakers with 1100 watts driving them will be bigger than most clubs will handle if you're only in a 2-pc. Plus the whole setup will cost you way less than $1000 if your buy the Sansamp and the Carvin used. They pop up in classifieds all the time.

As far as EQ goes, DONT BOOST YOUR BASS too much!! Your bass levels might sound thin standing 10ft in front your cabinet.... but a listener standing in the far corner of the room might be getting his pants shaken off.

As for gear, i already have the sansamp rbi, the crown power amp and the 410 svt he. Would you still suggest getting those cabs or do you reckon the 610hlf might help out fill the sound?

OK then, with what you have, you shouldn't have any further trouble being heard. Your plan makes sense, and I see no reason why it wouldn't work out. The 610hlf is a monster cab, and loud. Run it from the poweramp and RBI, lose the 410he, or save it for smaller gigs.

I run a Crown 602 with an RBI and depending on the size of the venue I use either an Avatar 2x10 a Hartke 4200 pro 4x10 or the Avatar 2 x 12 or any combination of cabs at either 4 ohms or 2 ohms. IMO the Crown has plenty of power and headroom.
