really bad singer!!!

ok, so im doin this rockband camp thing, and ont of the songs on the setlist is i want you to want me by cheap trick. we have this guy who plays sax and is pretty good. he really wants to sing lead on that song, so hes gonna. problem is, he cant sing for his life. he sounds like a tone deaf elvis. i decided to sing backup on the chorus and bridge just for the sake of the song sounding acceptable. and i sing pretty well. but its not like i can sing it for him.

what do i do!?!?! the thing is, he has no idea!!:rollno:

:help: :help: :help: please??

Wait a bit to see if he realizes, if he doesn't you need to do yourself a favour and tell him.
Many years ago I was in a similar position where a guy who was a fairly good keyboard player decided he wanted to be the singer (wanting to be the frontman was what motivated him I think). He was just unbelievably bad and would not recognize the fact, we had to tune a full tone down to try and accommodate his 'vocals', I can tell you gigging with a bad singer is not a good experience!
The problem in that case was that he co-owned the full P.A system which kept the band on the road, but even at that the whole thing just fell apart because no one could stand his voice.
