Really SBL?!

The topic is silly. Yes, solo'd the bass tones don't jump off the page. It's simply great bass players finding ways to trim down to do what's best for the song. Obviously they were doing what suited the song for studio tastes.

Calling these "bad tones" is childish and comes off as sour grapes.

I was surprised Scott chose to post this. The negativity of the topic alone should have made it a no go. But to include names like McCartney, Entwistle, Verdine White, Jaco and Jamerson was a shock. Making matters worse the songs in the list are arguably some of the most important and influential electric bass recordings ever. I get Scott didn’t agree in most cases, but still!

Actually he disagreed and was quite surprised with most of the choices, and even with the few he did somewhat agree with he said they sounded good in the mix.

I acknowledged Scott’s disagreement in the last sentence of my post you replied to. My issue with the entire exercise is it’s a terribly negative premise from which to start a discussion intended to educate. I just viewed it as off brand for SBL. His typical content is substantially better than this clickbait.

It was pretty good clickbait, worked for me . I saw it a few days ago.
