For me all the short necks feel very different. Which has been a much bigger deal breaker for me than the pickup(s).
I happen to really like a beefier neck on the Broncos. I have two, both are heavily modded. I like the Mustang but never bonded with the necks, on the ones I have tried. I like the necks on the EBOs but the single neck pickup is too limited. Many of the rest are too narrow for me. So with all the offerings I suggest getting out there an playing as many as you can.

Tribute Fallout Bass. New = $750 (but you can probably get a discount if you try). Used < $700. Worth noting the Fallout Bass feels bigger than a Mustang bass (because the body is). It is versatile for a single pickup bass (coil tap switch helps here).

The Sentinel would be my choice. I'm not sure about the used prices, but you might be able to get it for $700. They're excellent basses IMO, and I'm glad they've returned to Reverend's lineup.

Unlike many shorties, the Sentinel has its upper strap button near the 12th fret, which reduces the reach to first position when standing. Some of the others in this thread have the upper strap button around the 15th fret or even higher, so when standing you'll have almost the same reach to first position as on a 34" scale bass. If I go with a shortie, it would be for easier playability, and a long reach to first position defeats some of that.

That's weird. I thought the stock pickup was pretty mild in mine. I swapped it for a Nordstrand which keeps up with the GZR pickup in another bass.

Are you talking about the Squier 60s CV? . . I've got 2 (same bass, different colors) and they both are borderline unmanageable (to ME at least)
