Recommend 1 rack unit

I play a musicman stingray thru a hartke cab.

style is rock and a little slap. I play clubs every weekend and run thru the PA also.

i'm trying to narrow down the cluster* of pedals and wires into one rack unit.

can you recommend one? preferable under $500. thnks!

I don't know what effects I need.

I play rock songs from the 70,80,90s and today's stuff. I also like to slap a bit on some RHCP on my own.

I'm looking at Line6 and other rack units, that offer 50 or 100 pre-sets. I figure one of them will have a nice mix of compression, EQ, reverb, and god knows what else i'll need.

If I'm not mistaken there are basically two types of these units out there. There's the straight forward multi effects like Alesis, Art, TC Electric, Eventide, etc. These can be had anywhere from $200 to $1500+, they just do effects without OD/distortion/fuzz etc. Or, there's modeling units like Line 6 and such, these will do effects and amp modeling which includes OD/dist/fuzz. I'm not sure who makes rack units like these other than Line 6 and :spit: Behringer :spit: but I think these tend to use two spaces IIRC. I could be wrong about the capabilities of the TC Electric units for instance but I do know their G-System doesn't have any kind of distortion. I would think that if you're looking for rack mount distortion you'd probably want a pre amp or that Agro unit.
