Recommend a Cab to Pair with Mesa Boogie Walkabout

I had a Mesa WA ears ago. With its cab. It was not enough for me, but I think two 112 or one 212 its ok

I've settled on a Bergie AE212 for most of my louder Walkabout gigs, b/c it gets the most from the head. Compared to the Scout cab, the soloed AE tone isn't as warm—precise is more like it. However, in the full mix it's excellent.

However, if not mistaken, the more recent PH212s are not neo and would be considerably heavier than the older ones. Great 212s though.

OH really? I guess with everyone getting out of the neo-driver game, that's true. But yeah both of mine (which I purchased new in 2010) are neo loaded and very easy to schlep around. Whenever I borrow or use a PH410 I always lift the same as I do my 212 and I'm like "wait, wait, hold on let me get a better grip!" lol.

For the Walkabout, the Scout cabs are really great at warm and fat.
Depending on your volume needs, the 112 is nice for small/medium stuff, the 115 for bigger stuff.
As has been previously mentioned, The Walkabout is not a terribly loud head.
But, it will run happily at 2.67 or 2 ohms, so, you can readily run 4 8ohm cabs if you want to.

Two Scout cabs will suit most people, for most things.
For home use and light gigging, 112 would be plenty.
For medium to large gigs 115 or 2 112's will be plenty, especially with PA support.

Unless you're playing with guys thaty "just want to play really loud"
That was my case. For that I used 112 on top of 115, or, two 115's.

Hi, I added an 8 ohms 115 GK to my 4 ohms 112 Walkabout. I'm told it is on the manual that it will get warm and shut down the input , so it's not recommended .
I'm in love with the sound , but I don't wanna ruin my Walkabout .....
Have you done this 2.6 for ended periods of time ?

I've played my Walkabout through a great many different cabs, and by far, my favorite has been the Genz Benz Uber 212. Close 2nd is Aguilar DB 212. In general, the 212 format is great. Adding an 8 ohm 112 on top creates a nice 2.6 ohm 3x12 rig with plenty enough power for most, and great tone at a good loud level.

Have you done this 3x12 for extended periods of time ?
I'm adding an 8 ohm 115 GK and I love love love the sound, but I read this 4 ohms head should not be used at lower ratings for extended period of time . It will overheat.

Mesa WA + Aguilar GS112s or GS412s = bass tone nirvana!

Do you go below the 4 ohms the head is rated ?

Many have done it with success but Mesa does not recommend it. You can buy a replacement 112, 8 Ohm driver for your combo for about 150 from Mesa that will bring the overall load to 4 Ohms and make it easier on the head.

Not sure if it will fit ... but I found a Mesa PH115 cabinet with a blown driver. I ordered a Faital 15FH510. I think it's a perfect match with my WA 112. Both speakers seem to be about the same efficiency, so neither overpowers the other. It makes the room shake, rattle, and roll! Lows galore.

Would you guys say that the tone of the Walkabout changes significantly from an 8 ohm load to a 4 ohm load? I'll be buying a Walkabout very soon, and looking for a standalone cab to go with it. I'd like to go with an 8 ohm so that I keep the option of a second cab open sometime down the road (for the full 300 watts at 4 ohms), but I've been told that the tone isn't as good at 8ohms. Would you guys agree?

Also, how much change in volume can I expect from 165 to 300 watts?
