Recommend an audio interface for my Mac

Let's hijack this thread a bit,
I Just bought myself a new mac book pro, And i want an audio interface to record my bass (only that), The thing is I'm starting college and am really limited, i don't need/want a pro tool, just a decent quality of sound. An my budget is only somewhere around/under 1ooish Can$

Apogee Duet. As long as you don't need more than two inputs at a time, it is hands down the best interface for Mac IMO. Seemless integration with Garageband and Logic and pristine sound. And very easy to operate.

the only argument I can see for getting protools is that if you wanted to interface with pro studios. Digidesign's whole proprietary trip with their hardware is kinda lame, IMO.

Actually a buddy of mine is running his Digi O2 through Logic...If you're referring to only being able to use Digidesign equipment with Protools, I don't think that's always the case.

Logic was one of the concessions Digidesign sanctioned even back in the EMAGIC days.....

You can use Digidesign hardware with other software, but you can't use 3rd party hardware with Pro Tools.

If you want apogee quality but a cheaper package than the Duet, they just came out with a product called 'one' which is one channel with a built in condenser mic...still used a breakout cable, and has a great headphone/stereo out.

All in a package about the same size as an iPod for $250.

one channel, but dead simple and great quality. It's the main reason I want to wait till Apple releases a netbook to get a recording rig.
