Recommend me a fuzz that sounds like this

Last night, I was at a concert of Nordmann, a Belgian jazzrock group. Amazing band with a great bass player (Dries Geusens) and on two tracks, he used a great fuzz sound. I spoke to him afterwards and he told me he used an Aguilar Octamizer with a Fuzzistor. I already have a great octaver (MXR) and was wondering if there are more fuzzes that are as tight as the Fuzzistor. Has anyone compared it to for example a MXR M84?

Any reason you're not just looking for a Fuzzistor? Fwiw, it sounds gated and splatty to me (a realm of fuzz I enjoy) and I can definitely cop a similar vibe with my Red Witch Zeus.

If I'm not mistaken, the M84 is based on the tonebender and will not sound like that.

My thought as well. Looks like the Fuzzistor a relatively common and reasonably priced pedal. I see $179 new/$129 used here in the US.

TC Electronic Rusty Fuzz sounds similar and around 30 euros from Thomann or the Mooer Bass Fog.

IME, fuzzes are pretty sensitive and even things that sounds close on one bass/amp don't sound all that close when things change. If you like the way that sounds and you know what it is, I'd try the Fuzzistor, but go in with the knowledge that it might not sound the same in your rig.

That is true, but this guy has a similar signal path to what I have so that shouldn't form a problem.

Looks like I'll be trying an Aguilar Fuzzistor. (made for bass apparently) TalkBass Effects strikes again. But to get that sound now I'd try the SSBS Mini with low bias or a z-vexter Mastrotron or EQD Terminal Fuzz.

Everybody likes something else. That's why these threads end up being 500 pages long on The Gear Page. The illusion of better, optimal etc.

You know what sound you like, try that pedal with your rig and it might just work. Or it won't. It's just a piece of the puzzle anyway.

I'm partial to the Game Changer Audio/Third Man Records Plasma Coil. It has a lot of features and doo-dads. Its more gated than usual though, takes getting used to.

I checked out the fuzzistor, it sounds more like a brassmaster style to my ears. maybe also kinda like the SHOE pixel

I'm not putting anyone down. When I heard the first track in this thread, the fuzz reminded me of my neighbour's air conditioner when it was broken.
If that's your sound, sure - go for the pedal that delivers.

I’d get an octave fuzz with a clean blend, someone help me out, what brands are easy to get in Belguim?

You could run that into another muff or a Rat? But there’s a very clean bottom in this mix too. Right?
