Recommend me a good strap.

I've been using a Levy's 2.5" Italian glove leather strap for a while now, and absolutely love it. Super comfortable, but I am not a fan of super wide straps. I tried the 4" wide Italia straps and just didn't like them. Very nice quality and made really well, but just not my thing. Considered getting a few 2.5" straps from Italia, but just don't like the way they look on the ends. I like it when a strap tapers a bit near the end, and the Italia straps just look weird to me on the ends.

I had terrific shoulder pain due to arthritis. I had used a wide, padded leather Levy, then went on to the Neotech, but finally found my answer in a Slinger Waist Strap, which I've been using since last November. I changed the mount a few times and finally settled on the lower horn mount UNDER the lower horn and the end mount about 1" above the standard strap pin point. I use flush mount straplocks and have set up three of my basses to use this strap...my 5 string Variax, a MM 5'r knockoff I built and a Steinberger Spirit 5. Having NOTHING on my shoulders feels fantastic. I had trouble making it through one 4 hour gig with the shoulder pain I had, but now, multiple nights of 4 hour gigs are no problem.

At first the bass sat slightly lower than when I used my conventional straps. After moving the mount to under the horn it sits almost in the same place. It took a couple gigs to get used to it, but now it feels just right. This strap is not for the portly or paunchy (which I used to be) but I'm not skinny and it fits great.

Mono Betty.

The Betty has become my new go-to. I used Comfort Strapps exclusively for about 16 or 17 years. Lately I've gone to the Betty because I like the length better. The "Long" version of the Comfort Strapp is just a bit shorter than I like. But when I use the "Extra Long", I don't like where the "sweet spot" of the strap sits on my shoulder. The Betty is perfect.

They're both very comfortable. But I still think the Comfort Strapp is the MOST comfortable of anything I've ever used.
