I like it! :D You don't think the Fender 9050s on the BB and the EB Cobalts overlap too much?

As a general thread comment, Fedex claimed for a week the Jazz would be delivered Tuesday, and it arrived at the local distribution center Sunday. Tuesday they never bothered to attempt delivery, and today they did the "drive through the parking lot and claim the business was closed" trick. The UPS Store where I'm getting it delivered saw the truck outside. :rage: Hopefully they do deliver tomorrow. We'll see...

Hardly any overlap there. The cobalts are a very lively and articulate flatwound, unlike like most flats.

Well, a mixed start to this adventure...
- LaBella black nylons...just way too floppy for me (750N)-quite surprised, as I liked the D'Addario tapewound. Good thump though.
- Started to install GHS Precision Flats on the BB234, oops I ordered extra-long, so that won't work. I'll have to get the right ones. :eek:
- Moved the Fender 9050MLs to the jazz, which sounds great. :thumbsup:
- Temporarily tossed the factory Fender 7250s from the jazz onto the BB234. I think that bass sounds good with pretty much anything. :D Waiting on SITs that should come tomorrow or Tuesday.
- Tossed SS Lo-Riders on the Fender PJ. (I already had them.) Will be ordering Hi-Beams or Sunbeams next. I don't think the PJ likes SS Lo-riders. May need to try them on something else.
- EB Cobalt flats in the queue next after the above stuff.

Thanks very much to all the people who recommended things--I'll be working through this stuff for a while.

I started playing bass as a kid in the '80s using Rotosound Swing 66 stainless rounds. For what it's worth, my fingers have never bled.

These days I get my diversity of tone from GHS P Flats on one P, Rotosound 77 Jazz monel flats on the other P, and Fender 9050M flats on my Jazz. If I had a fourth bass I'd put LaBella 760M '54 DT flats.

Got some EB cobalt flats 45-105. Maybe I got a bad set. On the fender PJ, D and G ok, but A string very quiet compared to the rest, and both E and A very thuddy compared to the D and G. Certainly would not describe these as lively.
