Recording audio onto laptop using bass pod xt live

I'm looking to recording some very basic basslines with the bass pod xt live into ableton. Would I have to buy an external soundcard or could I hook it straight up to laptop?

The way you connect it to your computer to transfer patches and settings. USB, straight up. Just set it in Ableton and you're good to go.
