I am learning to record using home quality gear, Zoom H2N, PA mixer. The band leader wants to "hear" via a monitor, FJ mains what is being recorded. The end result is the the levels for each channel keep getting turned up so the recording which is direct out to the Zoom gets overdriven and distorted. My software cant remove the distortion.
SOOOoo. I need a good suggestion on how to stop the band members from screwing with the "live" sound of recording to ensure the mix quality. They wont use headphones with a headphone amp because the band leader believes that what comes out of the FH mains is what the audience hears and that is what the band needs to hear(despite over driving) to record. UGG...relatively new at this. Any advice would go a L O N G way!
I'd like to get better at recording and learn tactful ways to control what is being recorded. Thanks...Peace..
