Double Bass ...recording the Omni Bass...

Hi
I recorded an Omni Bass overdub recently and didn't want it to just read like an electric fretless - so I mic'ed the fingerboard up by the left hand with a small condenser to get some finger contact sound to add to the DI. Pretty happy with the way it came out! (only suited for overdubs due to leakage problems though....)

This sounds great, and really nice playing- it'd be amazing to figure out how to get a similar mic'd tone to mix with the pickups live! Which model do you have? And are you using the included Boomerang strap system?
I have a CR4 Omni bass and personally am having issues connecting with it, particularly compared to my full-sized NXT 5-string upright or my regular fretless 34" electric bass guitars (coming from being an electric BG player for years just starting to dabble in upright). Ergonomically for me it kinda feels like the worst of both worlds apart from the ability to bow it; though I do like the wide variety of tones it offers, the compact size, and the light weight. I still haven't given up on it as I really want it to work! I'm curious about the NS Frame strap for it, which would remove it from my body more when playing.

- thanks! ....checked in with the bass player, and it's a "WAV series 4 string with CRT stand"
