Recording with music accompaniment?

Now, I just gotta figure out how to get video capture while playing with the track so I can upload it all to YouTube and get some criticism/feedback...
Any pointers on that issue?

I use a pocket camera my brother got one year for Christmas. It was like $150 and does decent HD. Then you take the video and audio files and sync them in a program like iMovie

I'm sure there is but just like latency video lag would need correcting sometimes. I did a cover plugged direct in to my laptop using the onboard webcam and had to sync it externally. I don't know of any video program that can handle source audio or vice versa

This is interesting. I'll have to try when I get home, and I have some suspicions that it may not work, but what I'd take a stab at is this:

In Garage Band, put the mp3 you're playing along with on one track and set up an instrument track for your bass and turn monitoring on. You're not asking Garage band to record, just play an mp3 and monitor a track feed.

I'd then try recording through iMovie or maybe even Photobooth (possibly lower resource use).

In the theory that I'm going with, the recording could pick up the computer audio. What could be a problem would be if the audio ins and outs are limited to the active application, so while you're trying to record, say with iMovie, the audio in and out that were setup in Garage Band might get shut down.

Might work though. It would take some playing around.

It is very simple once you get the pieces.

Set up your audio recording device however you will. Set up the camera and hit record. It helps to grab the bass, and before you hit play in your mp3 player ore what have you, clap once or twice.
Then, take the video off of the camera. Open up iMovie and import your video and audio files. Put them in the program and hit play.

If you notice the sound and video are not matched up, go back to the clap you recorded. Watch this and then move the audio until the sound of you clapping happens just as you clap. If you didn't do this, you will have to match the audio to you playing, which us tougher but not impossible. If you did the clap thing, you can cut this part. Then export to a format YouTube will accept.

That DOES sound pretty logical. Just might work.
