Recording with the ZOOM B3

OK, so I got the B3. I Installed Cubase 7 LE on my computer, I set up the driver and everything, uploaded a MIDI drum file from a project and tried to record bass.

My chain was bass > B3(which is connected to the computer VIA USB) > Amp

When I hit record Cubase either doesnt hear anything or the sound of the recorded bass only comes through my amp.

What am I supposed to do here?

within the software, select the B3 as the input device.I'm not familiar with Cubase so can't tell you where that option is to be found

Now I have a weirder problem. I selected the B3 as my soundcard and I can hear fine from it and stuff, but for some reason everytime I activate Cubase I cant hear anything but my bass. I dont mean just other tracks within the recording but anything else on my computer. Youtube videos, music, you name it. I cant hear anything.

select the puters soundcard for playback I think, something like that, I know it's a pain,that's why my new Scarlett 2i2 is still in it's box. Easier to use my Tascam DR40 to record myself jamming to mp3s lol

Yeah, problem is that if I record like this the bass is heard only through the ZOOM and not the computer speakers.

I came to the conclusion Windoze and USB and sound don't like working together,they just don't.

So I bought the Tascam DR40 and a little 5 ch mixer and Yammy HS05 powered speakers.
I can record myself playing along to mp3s to judge how well i'm playing.
I can record all three of our acoustic trio individually live as well. It does all I want. My Scarlett is awaiting me to be brave enough to install Reaper and see if it works for me this time hehe

I think Windows 8.1 is even worse than this.

Will getting a proper soundcard work better?

Probably not,I have had USB / soundcard issues since USB was installed on Windoze PCs. USB headsets, soundcards you name it. Bought an M Audio usb interface with PT lite, all I got was a horrible sqwawking noise on playback. Bought the Scarlett but too scared it will do the same so use the Tascam instead, until the band needs to record,then I will try again.

Meanwhile ...Tascam DR40 -$200 5ch mixer $80

the scarlett has to be the easiest usb recording unit Ive used. love it. I have reaper and it's seemless

I record my music with my zoom b3 through a tascam mixing board. what I do is I hook up my zoom b3 directly into the tascam mixing board and use one of my patches on there. after recording all the song, I export the isolated tracks on to my computer and mix and master everything on a recording software. after the mixing and mastering, I have the song converted into an mp3 file. I currently have my music posted on soundclick and have posted a few on soundcloud, but I am planning on posting audio only clips of my music on youtube real soon.

I kinda figured out the whole rerouting thing. I dont plan on using the ZOOM as an audio interface for much longer. I think my guitar player has a Lexicon lying about he can throw my way.

Does anyone know any good free vst bass amp plugins I can use to liven up my bass sound?

Infact, any free VST plugins I can use? I definitely need a Hammond, a Rhodes and a proper drum plugin.

Hi guys, I got a zoom B3 and want to record my bass through the B3 directly into a digital recorder (zoom r8). My question is: what output should I use from the b3 to the digital recorder, the xrl or the 1/4 cable?

The extra mile in your answer is: what is the difference between both considering it is going directly to a digital recorder
