Well, we went to the studio Friday. My singer and drummer were supper excited and saying how awesome it was to be going back to the studio so I just kept my mouth shut and pretended like I was happy about it.
Our performance was WAY better than when we recorded it at our rehearsal space! I think the singer is just really excited to be in a studio because of the atmosphere and feel of it.
The engineer had just updated his sound cards from 16 to 24 bit so hopefully that will help with the sound.
16 bit sounds exactly the same unless he doesn't know how to set levels correctly.
If his 24 bit recordings sound better it's entirely because he got better or you guys were better..
Not due to being greater than 16 bits. All 24 but audio gives you is detail in the EXTREMELY quiet sections and the engineer gets to record at lower volume if desired.
So don't let him pull the wool over your eyes....
I've been a rec. Engineer for a long time.
