REDDI question

Hey guys,

I just purchased a REDDI and I can't wait to get it. Quick couple of questions for you REDDI guys out there:

Will it drive a power amp? I'll be running passive basses into it. And I have a Stewart 2.1 power amp. Can the REDDI drive the train?

Also, I was told by the sales rep on the phone (not someone at A-Designs) that with passive basses, you may need some makeup gain after the REDDI to appropriately hit tape or Tools. Have you guys found this to be the case, or can you just run it right into your recording machine of choice?

If you search on REDDI over in the "amps" forum, you'll find a fair amount of discussion, and see which TB'ers actually have one, so you can PM them with more questions. :)

I don't own one, but it does not surprise me that the rep said you'd need additional gain, since the REDDI puts out a mic level signal. That would also put a crimp in using it direct into a power amp, again assuming the output is only mic level. Here are the specs from the manual:
Gain Range 16 dB
Output Impedance 600 Ohm
Maximum Level +22 dBu
Output Low-Z, transformer-balanced

I own the REDDI (as you can kinda see in my avatar lol) and the answer to your question is (sadly) no. It can't drive a poweramp properly. If memory serves, it's been average with passive basses. I'm going into the studio again tomorrow, so i'll A/B it to tell ya for sure.
