Level sanded and final clear coats applied.
When you use big flake in a finish it takes quite a bit of leveling afterwards. I'm going to let it cure a few weeks. With the base, candy, flake and clear it has a lot of finish on it.

I Recently had similar experience. I used a fine flake, not large, and still took a good bit of clear to get the flake buried.
That's looking great. The curing part is important. My impatience resulted in having to completely wet sand back through all the grits (320 thru 1200) and rubbing compound to fix my issue.
Thank you. Yes I've had similar experiences where I've buffed and polished to a mirror shine without waiting and as the finish cures out fully it will shrink a bit and it leave a slight mottled effect. Always best to let it air out a while.
Since this current build is on hold while the body cures. I figured I'd post some photos of other builds while waiting.
Here's one I'm on the verge of completing. Its a single cut 4 string with a transparent red and purple burst finish.

Finally level sanded, buffed and polished it's hard to get photos of the flake that shows how it actually looks in person.
