Actually I think its a pretty cool design. I've been wanting a multi scale and a boutique bass. This could be right up my alley in knocking out two birds with one stone.

I would like to see what it looks like with an off white/almost yellowed white, body, and pearl inlay blocks for the fret markers, all hardware, pickguard in black. Headstock either body matching or in black, can't decide on that yet. I think either would look great.

Any idea what you're going to be asking? Or is it too soon to know the answer to that yet?

I guess my gut reaction was that it would be more in balance with the body curvyness if the top point were replaced with a ball-like round shape. But then it would basically be a fender headstock.

I hope everyone can read this as good natured personal preference commentary, not actual criticism! Scotty, I'm a big fan of your work and really loved the shop-made bridge on the bass in your last thread. I really can't wait to see this one finished up.

All great points, while designing I wanted to keep it kind of a mix between a Music Man and a Fender... To me, it looks more like a MM but it is quite a bit smaller than both. It won't fit the standard size clover keys for that reason. I wish I had one of the others handy to lay next to it.

A bit early to say on this one, like any other build wood, electronics and hardware selection make the price vary.

Building one with vs without a pickguard... I can assure you it's cheaper to do so without one. Quality pickguard material isn't free.

I like the pickguard, especially for bodies that have a solid color. For bodies that are natural or translucent, or have a quilted or flamed top, it depends. Some look good with, some look better without.

I agree, pearloid and tortoloid can add an element of class to an instrument... But if using a nice figured top the wood can definitely speak for itself.

Well, I was judging by the CAD images posted, and I definitely prefer the "actual" version, but I did see some similarities of the nose of a Muppet called Gonzo...

No reflection on the work, I'm a fan of the OPs work, but it's a thing common, to me at least, with "hook" type pegheads across the board.

Maybe I just like Gonzo. :D

I had a good laugh from this... Then things got a little serious because I started thinking, I mean what the heck is Gonzo supposed to be anyways? We know Fozzy is a bear... Kermit is a frog... Piggy a pig... So I wiki'd it. I am not at all pacified with the answer that I found. " Character. Gonzo is not a puppet version of a human or a recognizable animal. He has an awkward, non animal-like appearance, which includes purple-blue fur, purple feathers on his head, bug-eyes, and a long, hooked nose, referred to as a "beak"."

Sidebar here, but I'm a serious Muppet afficionado, and thanks to "Muppets from Space" back in 1999, Gonzo was retconned an extraterrestrial origin, that has not been "undone" in further iterations of Muppetry. So basically, we now know that he's an alien... :smug:
