It oughta...in an interview in '80s Guitar Player, McCartney sez he "nicked"(stole?) that line from, IIRC, a Chuck Berry guitar part. I may need to verify it was a Berry...definitely a guitar line from an early Rock 'n' Roll/R&B tune.

I had to learn "Here, There, and Everywhere" and their cover of "Till There was You" with only an hour before performing it. My friend who was playing guitar said to just stick to the root, but I steadfastly wanted to learn every note from the sheet music he printed and wanted to play it like Paul did. What happened was we didn't sound that great and I paused a lot when I got to those small 16th note fills. I don't think anyone in the audience thought we were as bad as we thought we were, but still. It's definitely more complicated than what I thought I originally heard when listening to the songs. Very cool how he hits the 10th and 12th fret in succession in the early bars of "Here, There, and Everywhere." By itself with the vocals it doesn't sound good, but with the rest of the instruments it somehow works. I know he usually plays guitar for that song, but he still wrote the line.

Seems like a typical early rock n' roll riff. I hear variations of that same riff in Elvis songs as well, which borrow heavily from Chuck Berry, Little Richard, etc.
"Hold Me Tight" from "With the Beatles" is a fun little rompin' rocker.
"Helter Skelter" from the "White Album" is fun, too. I also like "Me and My Monkey".
"Hey Bulldog" from "Yellow Submarine" is a good blues workout.
BTW John and Paul were both GREAT singer/writers.
Better writers together than separate IMO. They balanced each other out.

Ive always listened to the Beatles. Paul is one of my favorite bassists. If you want to learn to play bass melodically, Paul is a great teacher.
I just rediscovered them too...about 3 months ago, a 14 y/o guitar student of mine wanted to learn Beatles, her Dad just spent over $5,000 to re-design her bedroom with a Beatles theme....So she's leaning Gtr lines, I play bass along with her and sequences etc...

I agree with this. Both of them are excellent songwriters. From what I hear much more of the "Lennon/McCartney" songs were written by Paul even though they agreed to credit both for everything.
