Refinished Geddy.... worth it?

Screw the finish! for the money you're saving you can get it re-re-finished if you want! As long as it works and plays well, go for it man!! That's a great deal!

I suppose the neck is actually a Geddy, and we know the bridge is a BadAss...so the value is in those two parts right there.
Can the body, electronics, pick gaurd, control plate be verified as original? Otherwise you could have a nice neck and bridge on a dog of a body with a bunch of crappy parts on it that sounds like crap.

You can repaint it yourself!
I repainted my first two basses with rattle cans a few years ago, and it came out much better than I had ever hoped.

Worth it for the neck & hardware alone, but holy cow, that finish looks like it was applied by 1st grade children during finger painting hour.
If it is a real Geddy thru and thru (not just a Geddy neck and bridge), I would not part it out. If it was me anyway. Just refinish it!!!!
The finish does look bad in the pics. Id pass on it to save myself the hassle of stripping it off and redoing it. Unless he dropped the price to half. then maybe would concider redoing it if it passed other examinations without problems.

That finish sucks but for that price, do it. You can sand the finish so its relatively level and polish it up if you really want. That would make a pretty big difference in the look of it.
The hardware alone is worth more than $350. Especially now that Leo Quan is gone, that bridge is only going up in value.
A body can be re-refinished however you want it or a replacement body can be snagged off of ebay or custom ordered from warmoth for a few hunderd.

Well I feel that this is a great deal and I will be picking it up tonight.

Alright, so I picked up the bass tonight.
I had every intention of flipping the bass for more money but the guy selling it was a great guy through and through. I brought my $350 and told him that was the price he asked and he said "Oh no, I'm asking $500." He then proceeded to pull up his ebay ad (which did ask for $500). But I was responding to his CL ad that apparently he posted a while ago and had no bites. He honored his word and sold it to me for $350.
I wanted to sell it. But it is a very nice bass and he kept saying how he was happy it was "going to a good home." I think I might keep it for awhile (it is technically the "nicest" bass I have owned, although I will NEVER get rid of my MIM P, ever.) So I think I might sell my back up and keep this.
In regards to the finish, it isn't pretty. But it really isn't that bad. It has some ripples in the finish and I plan on redoing it someday, but for the time being it is fine.
Needless to say, he was a great guy and I am very impressed with the bass (I have played one before and wasn't digging the sound, but this one is real nice). I plan on keeping it and selling my back up. So if anyone wants a beautiful SX jazz with Kent Armstrong pickups, hit me up!

Sounds like a cool guy , i wouldnt have been able to buy it for 150$ less then he wanted if i was going to flip it either.

I always liked Inca Silver or Shoreline gold, with a black pickguard, on a block'ed neck J.
Picture that, with a Geddy neck:
I always said if I could find a used, beat-up Geddy for cheap, I'd refinish it white w/a black pickguard. I think that would look great with the black blocks and binding. Grab it...
The poly coat looks rough, but otherwise I really like the mocha color and black blocks combination. I would just finish sand and buff the poly.
