Refinished Geddy.... worth it?

I found a guy who offered to sell me his Geddy Lee jazz bass for a pretty good price.

He said he refinished the body saying "it is wood stained and polyurethane."

He is asking $350 with a case, I think it's a pretty good deal but I would like some input from my fellow TB'ers.

Screw the finish! for the money you're saving you can get it re-re-finished if you want! As long as it works and plays well, go for it man!! That's a great deal!

If you know how to refinish it yourself or know someone locally, sure.
Doesn't look very good as is, though.

That finish looks sticky, it has to go. For that price, though, I think you could deal with it

For the price, shoot, you could buy it and sell the BAII on Ebay and get most your money back. I'd say it's worth it.

Get it. Aside from the dreadful finish job on it, you could get it painted black (or whatever color you want) for still a fraction of the price of a new Geddy. And it's what's inside that counts. A Geddy is a Geddy.
You should Ged it.

This Geddy looks... Well not very good, but as said, good price, new re-finish will fix it

The neck is worth 300$ with the tuners if its free from issues

The badass is worth 100-150+

The case , if its free from issues any hardcase is worth like 40$


And that body even though its ugly with all the other parts is still worth at least 150$

Parted out you would be able to make 150$ after shipping and paypal fees.

That refin looks hideous! However it is worth more than $350 for the parts! The neck and bridge alone would be worth more if you were to sell them. If you keep it and have it professionally refinished it will still be a good deal less than a new Geddy.

Totally worth it, even if the refin is hideous! If you like the neck, it's a very good bass for the money. Top notch stuff, IMO.

I think it's a good deal. Test it out for any issues first, if you don't like it, you paid 350 for an ugly bass. I'm sure with some elbow grease ($) you could get a nice finish. If I was in the market for a bass, I would definitely jump on this.

Yes, that's a great deal if it plays well. I bet the finish looks 10x better when it isn't covered in a cheap camera flash.

Hideous. Looks like a glazed donut that's been under a heat lamp for a week..

But as others have said, if that's all that's wrong with it it's probably worth the money.

There is nothing wrong with that finish a belt sander couldn't cure.
